Pembrokeshire is one of the most dramatic parts of Wales and makes an excellent alternative for a family vacation. Stay in one of the sweet, tiny Pembrokeshire holiday cottages and you will not be disappointed. The locale offers a wealth of things to do even on those wet days that we so often get in this country.

For those of you looking for an area with delightful beaches it would be difficult to beat this district. The Pembrokeshire National Park is the only National Park that is almost all coastal. The beaches are some of the finest in the country.

Aber Bach is a little pebble beach where you can watch seals playing and the waves crashing on to the seashore. Amroth is a long flat sandy beach which is fantastic for playing games. Rockpools can be found at the western end providing opportunities for kids to explore with their fishing nets. Barafundle Beach is totally breathtaking - crystal clear waters and beautiful golden sands, it is backed with pine trees and dunes. Coppet Hall is a very safe beach with plenty of sand even at high tide. There are of course many more breathtaking beaches in this part of Wales - too many to state here.

The National Trust runs a whole host of activities for both adults and kids including rock pool safaris, crabbing and bat walks. The Trust also owns and protects numerous sections of this lovely coast.

The scenic Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is one of the country’s National Trails. Along this coastal path you pass through a variety of landscapes ranging from vertical limestone cliffs to rolling red sandstone bays. There are also some charming towns and villages to walk around along the way.

Oakwood Theme Park provides amusement and excitement for people of all ages. It is thought to have one of the best wooden coasters in the world!

Heatherton Activity Sports Park is open all the way through the year. There’s something for everybody including archery, bumper boats, horse riding and paintballing.

Pembroke Castle is a splendid example of a Norman Castle - it has an impressive tower and also caves underneath. It is largely in one piece and has everlasting tunnels, passageways and staircases to investigate. There are also excellent exhibitions which tell how life was during medieval times.

The Dinosaur Park, Tenby has many exciting things to do. You can go fossil searching or try your hand using a cross bow and arrow. There is in addition a large indoor play area with slides and ball pools.

The Silent World Aquarium is housed in a nineteenth century chapel and is only a small walk from the centre of Tenby. The attraction has many aquatic creatures, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
